An Observation
One thing about tokenism in films (and tv shows) is it produces a good amount of popular culture media by which we do not see women (or people of other marginalized groups who're routinely tokenized) interacting. A very long time ago, I just read an item with a male film writer about how exactly he struggles to create multiple female figures because he isn't proficient at writing women interacting. He did not place it that can compare with that, but which was the gist. And thus failing to incorporate multiple female figures turns into a self-perpetuating cycle: There's not good good examples of ladies interacting in film, so (many) male authors don't understand how to write women getting together with one another.Which states something not altogether kind concerning the creative instinct among most screenwriters, they place their cues using their company films. It states something concerning the way women are regarded as culturally by (many) males: That we're mysterious, that we're an impenetrable and unrelatable monolith, our communication and interaction with one another in tangible existence is really inscrutable it cannot possible be deciphered and reproduced—all the stuff of terrible sitcoms starring dudes like Jim Belushi. Also it reflects a real possibility the patriarchy doesn't encourage (nor require) males to value engaging with females, especially women in groups. I do not think the male author who finds it hard to create multiple women hasn't seen, in tangible existence, his mother communicate with her mother, or together with his sister, or together with his wife, or had two female buddies possess a conversation before him, or experienced an expert setting with a minimum of two female co-workers.I simply imagine he's never prioritized having to pay attention.

An Observation
[Content Note: Rape culture.]I've become into numerous public debates with males, a number of them famous and/or influential males, about rape apologia, rape culture, and rape jokes. In most cases, these males were participating in denialism concerning the effects and/or perhaps fundamental information on this stuff. Each and every time, I request them exactly the same factor: The reason for so committed to protecting the rape culture? And each time, they provide no reply.

An Important Note About Rape Culture
[Content Note: Sexual violence rape apologia.]There's lots of stuff being discussed the most recent rape apologist bullshit happening in the cesspool referred to as Good Males Project (and strangely reprinted by xoJane). I am not likely to give either of these traffic you'll find it via Google if you are like doing so. I do not feel inspired or obliged to take a position much energy reacting towards the GMP's insistent assertion (also given space by xoJane) that "good men" can commit rape accidentally, aw gee shucks, without recognizing what they are doing because the west has unsuccessful to describe for them what consent is. Because fuck them as well as their gross rape apologia.I actually do encourage you to definitely go read Grace's excellent piece, "Who Requires a Good Rapist Project?", which explores the numerous issues with this complete "we have to humanize rapists (at the fee for humanizing sufferers but shhh)" approach. And Among the finest to underscore this time: It's eminently easy to discuss rapists as complex people without speaking about the subject (inaccurately) as "good individuals who just became of perform a bad factor." Rape isn't an action that occurs accidentally. Rapists, all rapists, are potential predators who're hostile to consent and spend sufficient time feeling out, being an explicit or unconscious strategy, what lengths they are able to push limitations (sexual and otherwise) without consequence before they commit rape. This absurd construct of the "good guy who just became of rape someone while he has not been trained much betterInch is comprehensive bullshit. Rapists are potential predators. Which holds true maybe it's a serial rapist who carefully stalks specific sufferers, or maybe it's a "good guy" who exploits an chance to rape an unconscious lady.In either case, a rapist is searching for an chance to rape.I've formerly noted that you will find 2 kinds of rapists, and also the distinction isn't, because the GMP along with other rape apologists might have us believe, rapists who plan to rape and rapists who rape accidentally whoooooooops, but is actually sadistic rapists, to whom the possible lack of a victim's pleasure is not an insect but an element, and opportunistic rapists, who're mainly sex-seeking rapists who coerce sufferers and/or exploit insufficient consent due to their sufferers getting borderline or overtly impaired states of awareness. One sort of rapist isn't less worse compared to other. And every one of this "good guy who did not understand what he was doing" dogshit is attempting to produce some kind of rapist hierarchy where sadistic rapists can be harmful people, but opportunistic rapists are great individuals who did a poor factor.Which is the kind of good will opportunistic rapists know they're going to have. In the end, they spend their lives creating it among people who they really are certain will defend them. This is actually the worst area of the GMP's and xoJane's publication of pieces claiming to "allow us to better understand rapists"—they are rather abetting rapists. They feel they're "moving past the usual conversations," however , all they are doing is letting themselves be utilised by cunning, tricky potential predators who're taking advantage of intellectually and ethically void know-it-all dipshits exactly the same way they exploit their sufferers.
